To address the academic and social emotional impact of COVID, Follett ISD has participated in ESSER (Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief) grants. By accepting these funds, we are assuring the district will respond to the academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs of all students, and particularly those students disproportionately impacted by the COVID –19 pandemic, including students from low -income families, students of color, English learners, children with disabilities, students experiencing homelessness, children in foster care, and migratory students.
The past few years have been unpredictable and challenging for many individuals. In an effort to help our students cope with the effects of COVID and uncertain times, Follett ISD contracted with private LPC's, licensed private counselors. The cost accrued from the expenditure would be an appropriate use of the ESSER III funds. We wouldl ike your input in regards to amending the budgeted items on the ESSER III grant to include the counseling services.
